BHEL bags largest solar PV power plant order

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), the country’s largest power equipment manufacturer, today announced it has bagged an order for setting up a 75 Megawatt (Mw) solar photo-voltaic power plant in Gujarat, its largest solar PV project so far.

The order for setting up the plant on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis at Gujarat Solar Park at Charanka has been placed by Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL). “With this order, BHEL’s solar portfolio has risen to 545 MW. The company is presently executing over 150 MW of ground-mounted and rooftop Solar PV projects across the country,” the firm said in a statement.

BHEL has an annual solar cells manufacturing capacity of 105 Mw and solar modules capacity of 226 MW. The company also manufactures high-efficiency solar panels and battery panels at its Electronic Systems Division in Bengaluru.

The company offers EPC solutions for both off-grid and grid-interactive solar photo-voltaic power plants and has set up solar plants at multiple locations in India including the Lakshadweep Islands.
