Agri education, research to get a major boost.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Vice Chancellor Dr.V. Damodara Naidu recently, announced Rs.58.75 crore worth developments for strengthening both agricultural education and research, hinting a major infrastructural boost in the temple city of Tirupati. Speaking to the media, Dr. Naidu said that existing Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) here, would be getting a new administration building, followed by a genome lab and bio-fertilisers lab. With the state government's push towards farm mechanisation, Dr. Naidu said that they would also establish a mechanisation workshop in the premises, which would not only enable research but also for demonstrating the farmers on the utilisation aspects. Elucidating on the research being carried out at RARS and Agricultural Research Station – Perumallapalli, Dr. Naidu said that emphasis would be on taking up extensive research on prevailing issues. He further spoke on the area of crops covered under this season and on the appointment of teaching staff at colleges and polytechnic. Besides this, Rs.150 crore will be used to improve the infrastructure at S.V. Agricultural College, including setting up of a new building for Indian Institute of Agri Business Management and a women's hostel. Dr. Naidu earlier reviewed activities at RARS and inspected the crops being developed at the research centre.
