Aster DM Healthcare to invest Rs 1000 crore for hospitals in India
Aster DM Healthcare is planning to invest about Rs 1000 crore in India to expand its hospital facilities in the country.
The group with a wide network of hospitals and clinics in the Gulf countries and Kerala will be setting up new hospitals in Kerala as well as in Bengaluru and Chennai. We plan to add 1500 beds to the existing 4300 in the country by 2021,’’ said Dr Azad Moopen, chairman of the group.
The 300-bed hospital in Kannur and 250 bed one in Bengaluru are nearing completion. The group is planning to construct two big hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. The average cost of setting up a bed would be around Rs 60-70 lakh, he said.
He said the first batch of students from the group's DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences (WIMS) will graduate this month. Our aim is to make it one of the top ten medical colleges in the country by 2025,’’ he said. Starting PG courses and attaining deemed university status are among the future plans for WIMS.
