BHEL to Build 15MW Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in Gujarat
Public sector major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an order to establish a 15 MW Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Power Plant in Gujarat. The project which would be undertaken on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis comes to BHEL from Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited (GACL).
GACL had lined up plans to set up the SPV Power Plant at Gujarat Solar Park at Charanka in Gujarat, a report said.
What makes the new development more significant is that it will be BHEL’s first ground-mounted Solar PV project in Gujarat. BHEL currently executes over 180 MW of ground-mounted and rooftop Solar PV projects across the country.
Over the past 30 years, the public sector company has been involved in developing and promoting renewable energy based products on a sustained basis, and has enhanced its state-of-the-art manufacturing lines of solar cells to 105 MW and solar modules to 226 MW per annum.
These apart, BHEL also manufactures space-grade solar panels using high efficiency cells and space-grade battery panels at its Electronic Systems Division in Bengaluru.
