UPL is setting up an agro chemicals, intermediates and specialty chemicals unit with a capacity of 3.07 lakh tpa in Bharuch district of Gujarat.
The project worth Rs 2,388.19 crore will spread over 148.26 acre of land. It will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 10,000 persons. It is being implemented in three phases.

The project was accorded terms of reference (ToR) in December 2016. In October 2017, UPL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Gujarat to make an investment for the project.

In March 2019, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) accorded environment clearance.

In September 2019, work on Phase-I was completed and commercial production was underway.

As per information available with Projects Today, civil work on Phase-II is expected to commence by February 2020
