Hyperloop to be developed from city to Amaravati.

California-based research company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) recently for development of a hyperloop transport system between Vijayawada and Amaravati in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

During the initial phase of the project, HTT will conduct a six-month feasibility study commencing in October and analyse the surrounding cityscapes to create the best route between the two cities, while identifying potential stakeholders in the region.

The hyperloop will be constructed in the second phase.

An official release stated that HTT chairman and co-founder Bibop Gresta felt delighted to have entered into the MoU with the State government to bring India’s first hyperloop and expressed his keenness to work with the local stakeholders for building the regulatory standards necessary for safe and efficient operation.

EDB CEO J. Krishna Kishore said major cities of the world have seen decline in livability and transportation has been a major contributor due to congestion, air pollution and accessibility. By collaborating with HTT, Amaravati was embracing a prototype for the mobility of tomorrow.

Economic Development Board advisor Aviruk Chakraborty and others were present at the programme.
