JK Cement lines up Rs 1,700 crore for expansion, foray into new markets

JK CementNSE -0.15 % will spend Rs 1,700 crore on enhancing its production capacity to 15 million tonnes by the end of 2020, from 10 MT at present, and entering markets such as Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, said a senior company executive.

The measures include addition of 1 MT grinding capacity at the company’s plants in Nimbahera and Mangrol, said Rajnish Kapur, business head of grey cement at JK Cement.

The company is setting up grinding units at Balasinor in Gujarat and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, both facilities sourcing clinker from Mangrol in Rajasthan where a brownfield expansion of 3.5 MT will come into operation in the second quarter of 2019-20. It will lay the foundation stone for its unit in Gujarat on Thursday.
