KIA to roll out cars from India plant in second half of 2019.

Korean automotive major Kia Motors is likely to start the manufacture of its cars in India from its upcoming greenfield plant from September 2019.
It is entering the Indian market with a proposed investment of about $2 billion, covering phases, and with production capacity of 3 lakh vehicles per year from the world-class manufacturing facility being set up in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Towards this vision, Crescendo Worldwide organised a Kia Motors Supplier Meet in Delhi on May 29, where more than 200 tier-I and tier-II companies and suppliers from various cities met KIA Motors India Team, according to a statement.

Lee Sanghwa, Chief Product Officer, Kia Motors India; Vishal Jadhav, President and Nidhi Shree, Head � Strategic Business Expansion, Crescendo Worldwide, interacted with the suppliers. Vishal Jadhav, President, Crescendo Worldwide, said: �We believe in bringing more business to India and make the country a global manufacturing hub. For the Kia project, we are targeting to reach tier-II and III automotive suppliers, specially from small cities, which will support Kia to make cost effective products without compromising on quality. We will get to see 4 models of Kia in India.� Twenty-five Korean tier-I suppliers of Kia Motors also participated.

Indian companies also got an opportunity to see the latest models of Kia Motors � to know more about the parts, components and assemblies. The automotive company, which is at an advanced stage of development of the manufacturing base, expects to roll out cars with a high level of localisation.

A Korean vendor base is also coming up close to the automotive unit.
