The Kollur housing project, taken up by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Housing Department of Telangana Government, is progressing well and expected to be ready by March 2020.
The project involves construction of two-BHK housing at Kollur in Sanga Reddy district, where 15,660 two-BHK flats are being constructed. The project will come up over 125 acre of land parcel with all amenities and infrastructure such as water, electricity, drainage, roads, shopping malls, parks, nursing home, school, library, fire station, bus station, parking facility in each block, among others.
Around one lakh people will reside at this place once the project is completed.
The government of Telangana had initiated a flagship programme of ‘Two-BHK Housing Scheme’ for providing two-bedroom houses with a total built-up area of 560 sq ft, free of cost, to shelter people living below poverty line (BPL) and in abysmal conditions. The housing projects are being taken up in the existing in–situ slums and government vacant lands.
The project consultancy work was entrusted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) to carry out consultancy services for the project.
