Kusum Smelters is planning to set up a sponge iron plant with capacity of 2.45 lakh tpa in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh.

The project will comprise facilities -- MS billets, rerolled steel products through hot charging, rerolled steel product through reheating furnace, ferro alloys, pig iron, captive power, WHRB, fly ash brick.

Kusum Smelters is awaiting environment clearance for the project.

Work on the project is expected to commence by September 2022.
