Mumbai coastal road project to start by December end: CM Devendra Fadnavis.
To fast-track development of infrastructure facilities in Mumbai, the Maharashtra government will start work on Mumbai’s coastal road project by the end of December, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said at an event in the city on Thursday.
The government had also shortlisted five bidders for the project and would issue a request for proposal soon, he said. This is in addition to a 22-km long Mumbai trans-harbour link road for which the government had shortlisted 10 entities on Wednesday.
Emphasising the various projects undertaken to develop Navi Mumbai city, the chief minister advised home developers to build more projects around the link road. Fadnavis also said that it is was time for greater focus on affordable housing. The government is planning to revamp existing laws to facilitate faster development of affordable housing projects. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ford to develop an application to provide co-ordinates of all transport systems in Mumbai.
Speaking at the same event, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority Chairman Gautam Chatterjee said that the watchdog would strive for resolution by way of delivering flats to homebuyers, not liquidating stressed companies. Chatterjee said that recently, officials of Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority, and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India had met to discuss resolution process for stressed realty companies.
