Najafgarh to get sports complex.

A sports complex with facilities for athletics, tennis, basketball, swimming, cricket and football would be set up in Najafgarh within 18 months, the Delhi government said in a statement on Monday.
The complex, which will cost an estimated ₹122 crore, was approved by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday. The 18.2 acre complex at Kair village in Najafgarh already has a football stadium, which was certified as a venue for international matches by world football�s governing body on November 21.

The cricket stadium that is part of the complex is likely to be finished soon.

Facilities for athletics, tennis, basketball and swimming are expected to be set up in the first phase within six months, followed by a sports academy and residential facilities in the second phase. An eight-lane 400 metre athletic track would also be made in the first phase of the project. The swimming pool would be as per Olympic specifications.
