NCR to Develop Cheoki As a Satellite Station
In view of Ardh Kumbh 2019, the authorities of North Central Railways had decided to revamp the facilities at Cheoki station of NCR and they have started making preparations for enhancing the passenger amenities. An amount of Rs 50 crores has been earmarked for revamping the facilities at this station.
The Cheoki station has been catering to the needs of passengers going to Mumbai, in fact several important trains are shifted from Allahabad Junction to this station.
While work on some of the proposals have already commenced at the station, many more are in the pipeline and would be completed before the commencement of ardh kumbh.
Among the infrastructure development works that are proposed at this station includes improvement of the circulating area, commissioning of escalator which is being installed at the foot over bridge, construction of new road connecting the station to the main road of Naini area, extension of station building, provision of LED lighting on the station, construction of Third line between Naini and Cheoki and installation of CCTV in the computerized reservation facility (PRS) of the station.
In addition, the possibility of converting all the ticket counters in the booking office from unreserved to PRS is also being mulled by the authorities.
Along with Cheoki, authorities are also focusing on Naini as several enclosures are being made in view of Ardh-Kumbh and Maha kumbh. The NCR GM, MC Chauhan instructed that the platforms and the approaches to the platforms should be repaired wherever the wear and tear had set in, taking special care to ensure that water logging does not take place on the same. The GM also conversed with passengers at both the stations and took their feedback.
NCR GM inspected the in-progress-work of raising of platform number One of the station. Once this work is completed, the platform will become a high-level platform and will greatly benefit the passengers and other users of the station.
Apart from this, the authorities are also mulling over the possibility of creating holding capacity for passenger-carrying trains at this station by creating a loop line in the station yard. The creation of this loop line in the yard will greatly benefit the punctuality of passenger-carrying trains between Karchhna and Allahabad as it will allow precedence to be given to trains between Karchhna-Chheonki-Naini-Allahabad, a facility which is not available till now.
