NCRTC speeds up Rs 24,975-cr rapid rail corridor
The 106-km long Delhi-Gurugram-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex) rapid rail transit corridor, which got an approval from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) Board last year and then from Haryana government has been fast tracked at an investment of ₹24,975 crore. The project in question aimed at reducing travel time from Delhi to Alwar via Gurugram and Rewari to less than two hours, is expected to be completed in about five years, excluding one year of pre-construction activities. The base construction cost of the corridor will be funded by the Central government (20 %), state governments concerned (20%) and through bilateral/multilateral funding agencies (60%). The construction will be carried out in three stages, whereby first stage will cover SNB Urban Complex to Sotanala and from SNB Urban Complex to Alwar will be built in second stage and the third stage, which will be elevated for about 71 km, will pass through Manesar, Bawal and Neemrana. The remaining 35 km track would be built underground, with most of its parts in Delhi and Gurugram. A total of 11 stations would be elevated while five are to be constructed underground on the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB corridor. The corridor will converge at Sarai Kale Khan with other Regional Rapid Transit Systems' corridors and would facilitate the movement of passengers from one corridor to another without changing trains.
