NDDB to launch automatic milk collection system, fodder management programme
The National Dairy Development Board will soon be launching innovative programmes and initiatives for the dairy industry in India. The plans include an automatic milk collection system and a fodder management programme. This was stated by a senior official with NDDB, western region, on the sidelines of the India International Dairy Expo (IIDE) 2019, which commenced in Hall 2 of Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, on Wednesday.
Speaking to FnB News on the condition of anonymity, the official highlighted the latest developments and innovations in the dairy sector, he added that the board had decided to launch the milk procurement programme based on an automatic milk collection system.
The official said that in this plan, the machines will be linked with the main office and the data of collected milk will be with it in real time, thereby minimising the risk of adulteration or cheating and maintaining transparency throughout the system.
“Called Fodder Ration Balancing Programme, the plan, which is based on the animals'body weights, will be implemented soon. We have developed an Android-based application, which shall help in identifying the requirements of fodder, in accordance with the animal's body weight. This will help the enterpreneur to make a proper decision on stocking of fodder, which is quite critical in the dairy industry,” the official said.
