NHAI takes up Rs 900-cr road widening in Nagpur

The NHAI is all set to widen Nagpur to Umrer and Gondkhairi-Kamleshwar-Dhapewada and to Saoner national highways from existing single-lane to four-lane with length of 70-km at cost of ₹900 crore. The project is being executed on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model for which MoRTH has already sanctioned funds for the two projects to be commissioned in two years. NHAI official added that the letter of acceptance (LOA) has been issued for both the projects and that DP Jain & Co Infrastructure Private will execute Nagpur to Umred four-laning with a length of 41km costing ₹420 crore. While Dilip Buildcon secured Gondkhairi to Kamleshwar to Dhapewada to Saoner four-laning project with a length of 28.87km at a cost of ₹480.06 crore. Nagpur to Umred stretch is a part of national highway 353 which ends at Armori in Gadchiroli district. The project will bring relief for those going to Nagbhid, Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district and Gadchiroli district respectively. The NHAI has proposed to widen stretch from Umred to Nagbhid to Brahmapuri to Armori to four-lane.
