Nitin Gadkari to Launch Rs 3700 Cr worth Highway Projects in Karnataka

The laying of foundation stone for over 500 km of highway projects worth over Rs 3700 Cr in Karnataka will be made by Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways, Shipping and Water Resources. The road projects are to be undertaken in five districts -Shimoga, Bellary, Bidar, Bijapur and Hubli.

The laying of foundation stone for 138.5 km of highways projects worth Rs 873.5 crores in Shimoga district was undertaken in Karnataka on Monday.

The Minister informed that 6805 Km of National Highways have been declared in Karnataka between 2014-2017, as against only 6760 km upto 2014. With this the total length of national highways in the state has gone upto 13565 Km, including 6433 km declared in principle. He said, while there are 105 ongoing projects of length 2795 km worth Rs 19,638 Crores, another 19 projects of length 230 km and cost Rs 1676 crore will soon be awarded while 34 projects of length 4000 km and costing Rs 25000 crores have already been tendered while DPR is being prepared for 34 more projects.
