NLC India brings live 300 MW of solar in Tamil Nadu
Coal miner and power generation group NLC India Ltd (BOM:513683) has commissioned 300 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) parks in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The capacity is part of a 500-MW portfolio of grid-connected solar projects currently under implementation in Tamil Nadu, NLC India said in a statement on the Bombay stock exchange on Wednesday.
The remaining 200 MW of PV capacity will be put on stream soon, an NLC India official told consultancy Mercom Capital. According to the unnamed official, the 500 MW of projects were tendered back in 2016.
NLC India has teamed up with the central government to add a total of 4,000 MW of solar power generating capacity in various regions of the country. Overall, the company has brought online 440 MW of solar plants and has a project pipeline of around 900 MW, Mercom estimates.
