Patanjali to Enter Garment Manufacturing Business Next Year

Patanjali Ayurved will soon foray into garment manufacturing by rolling out garment products catering to kids, men and women. The decision was announced by Patanjali Ayurved co-founder Baba Ramdev.

Speaking at an event organized by Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Ramdev said that Patanjali will have garment products launched by next year. The new wing of the Indian FMCG company will introduce products ranging from jeans to ethnic wear for kids, men and women. Patanjali’s garment manufacturing will also have garments for sports and yoga.

This is not the first time that Ramdev has disclosed the plan of the company to enter garment industry. Last year, he had announced plans to launch ‘swadeshi’ line of clothing under Patanjali brand.

The yoga guru also announced that Patanjali would soon enter other countries including those with weaker economies, with plans of investing the profits in the respective markets itself. Patanjali has already ventured into India’s neighboring nation Nepal.

Ramdev also spoke about the fiscal policies of the company, revealing that the priority was for appointing committed people rather than fat-salaried professionals. Regarding the advertising campaign of the company, he said that the decision to not have big faces has helped save considerable amount of money.

He also opined that his presence on the ads ensured an emotional connect with the people. He however said that his presence in the ads was being reduced, with plans being to completely remove his presence in the next few years
