The civic body has proposed a 24-m wide road from Kalakhad slums to Kaverinagar, Sangvi Phata up to Dange Chowk, as per news reports. PCMC Proposes Kalakhad to Dange Chowk Road.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s proposal comes after a stay order was granted by the Bombay high court on construction of the BRTS corridor from Wakad phata to Hinjewadi IT Park following an appeal by three landowners. They were opposed to parting with their land for construction of the corridor. The civic body will acquire land for construction of road through transferrable development rights. A proposal to this effect has been tabled before the law committee.

The municipal corporation had approved extension of the BRTS corridor from Wakad Phata to Hinjewadi in May 2015. The estimated cost of the project was Rs 6.55 crore. About 55% of the work is over on Wakad Phata-Hinjewadi BRTS corridor. Bus operations on the Nashik Phata-Wakad route had started two years back. Buses ply on the route between Bhosari and Hinjewadi.
