Photon Energy commissions 800 kWp rooftop solar unit.
Photon Energy Ltd. has installed a 800 kWp rooftop solar plant for the Swedish home furnishing retail major Ikea’s first store in Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad-based solar power solutions company has also bagged the mandate from Ikea to set up rooftop solar plants at its upcoming stores in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Gautham Nalamada, Executive Director, Photon Energy, told BusinessLine , “This is a prestigious engagement for us as we are working with one of the biggest global retailers. We won the mandate amidst competitive bids and are engaged as an EPC solutions provider.”
The rooftop solar plant at Hyderabad store is one of the country’s highest solar power installed per square metre plant using mono-perc modules with over 18.6 per cent efficiency from China-based Silicon Module Super League (SMSL) member Longi Solar. They have been anchored to the rooftop without civil footings or roof drilling.
The rooftop plant with 2,223 modules and 10 inverters were installed in 30 days, and create significant cost savings in Ikea’s energy bills. 3E, an independent global engineering consultancy company provided the design validation and technical clearances.
The project was designed and executed by the power solutions division of Photon Energy Systems, a company with about 20 years of experience. This division has commissioned hundreds of solar plants, both rooftop and utility MW scale, with an installed base of over 200 MW capacity in India.
Globally, Ikea installs renewable energy units as a part of its sustainability initiative. It has plans to do it in India too.
