Redevelopment Consent for Small Buildings Reduced to 51 percent
Redevelopment Consent for Small Buildings Brought Down from 70% to 51% in Maharashtra. In a recent move, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a nod to a reduction in consent percentage of required for redevelopment of small buildings consisting 11 flats or less.
The government has decided to amend the MAOA 1971 (Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act) for this. This amendment would help many small private buildings registered under the act, especially in South Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. But it is also increased the chances of some adamant unconvinced members taking the litigation route. With RERA being seen as a transformation agent, Maharashtra Government is considering amendments to Maharashtra Ownership Flat act as well.
