Nellore railway station will be developed with modern facilities under the project ‘Redevelopment of Railway Stations’ at a cost of Rs 100 crore. The redevelopment project will be done jointly by Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) and National Buildings Construction Company Ltd (NBCC)

It is an A category station under South Central Railway (SCR). The redevelopment of the station includes various energy efficient initiatives like green terraces, cellular rain water harvesting, Solar panels, LED lighting etc

The redevelopment of the station is necessary as the number of people using the station may increase in next few years
