ReNew Power commissions 125-MW 1st phase of Kutch wind project.

ReNew Power Ltd. has commissioned the Phase I (125 MW) of its 250 MW wind power project in Kutch district of Gujarat.

Power from the project will be supplied to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. The project is part of India’s first wind power reverse auction concluded by Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltdin February 2017 under the 1,000 MW ISTS network.

The 250 MW wind power project was won at a tariff of Rs. 3.46 per unit by Ostro Kutch Wind Pvt Ltd. in April 2017, which, through an acquisition of OstroEnergy Pvt Ltd. and its portfolio of wind and solar energy projects, became a part of ReNew Power in March 2018.

“ReNew Power is India’s first renewable energy company to commission the first wind power project under ISTS scheme of SECI I wind auction,” Sumant Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director, ReNew Power Ltd., said.

Ostro Kutch Wind awarded the 250 MW turnkey project to Vestas Wind Technology India, which includes delivery, installation and commissioning of 125 V110-2.0 MW turbines, as well as the project’s BoP works (civil & electrical). The turbines will be serviced by Vestas under a 10-year service contract.
