Shri Prabhulingeshwar Sugars & chemicals Ltd., (SPSCL)located at Siddapur Village, Jamakhandi Taluk, Bagalkot District, Karnataka.

The existing activity viz., manufacturing sugar of Sugar crushing capacity - 8500 TCD, co-gen power plant of capacity 40 MWh, is valid up to 30/06/2021.

The industry now proposes to expand its sugarcane crushing capacity from existing 8500 TCD to 12000 TCD and co-gen power plant capacity from 40 MWh to 55.5 MWh.

The proposed expansion is planned within the existing infrastructure of the industry, involving minimal civil works/ construction activities. The capital investment for the expansion would be about ₹166, 59, 60,826/-

The industry manufactures sugar known for its high quality and good taste by adopting quality systems and eco-friendly manufacturing practises. The by- products of the unit being bagasse, filter cake, molasses and fly ash, bagasse is used as fuel in boilers in the unit for cogeneration of power. The filter cake also known as press mud is used as manure. Molasses is used as a raw material for distilleries (Siddapur Distilleries) of our organization. The fly ash is used as substitute for firewood and is also used by local farmers for cultivation.

SPSCL is currently being operated for 240days in a year during the cane crushing season and no co-gen is envisaged during off season. The existing production of White Crystalline Sugar is about 1020 T/day.

The unit is currently utilizing 10.5 MW power for operating the sugar plant of 8500TCD and is exporting 29.5 MW to grid.

SPSCL now proposes to expand its cane crushing capacity from existing 8500 TCD to 12000 TCD and co-gen plant capacity from 40 MWh to 55.5 MWh. With expansion of sugar plant to 12000TCD and co-gen, the power requirement for SPSCL will increase to 13.2 MW and thereby export to grid after expansion would be about 39.3 MW.

The cost on expansion project is about Rs. 166 crores (Existing = 163cr.₹, Expansion =166cr.₹)
