Tata Power Commissions 30 MW Solar Plant in Maharashtra

Tata Power, India’s leading integrated power company, has commissioned its 30 MW solar power plant in Palaswade (Maharashtra). The plant was developed by its wholly owned subsidiary, Tata Power renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL).

According to the company, the plant will produce over 62 million KWH annually (over 6.2 crore units) of solar power, covering the annual energy needs of over 14,000 Indian households.

The company further said the newly-commissioned solar plant adds to its growing renewable energy portfolio. The plant will be maintained in an ecofriendly manner using rain water harvested through the construction of check dams. The additional water collected will be made available for irrigation and other uses that will benefit the local community. The 30 MW solar plant uses domestically manufactured crystalline silicon photo-voltaic modules, it added.

Rahul Shah, CEO, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, said, “we aim to create a focused renewable energy business in TPREL with a sustained growth trajectory. The commissioning of the 25 MW solar plant in Gujarat marks a milestone in our drive, to grow our portfolio of clean and renewable energy generation.”

The commissioning of the 30 MW Solar Power plant in Palaswade further underlines Tata Power’s emphasis on the development of clean energy generation from renewable sources to balance the carbon emissions from fossil fuel based generation capacity while contributing towards the energy security o the country, the company said.
Tata Power shares closed trading in red at Rs 84.80, down 1.40% from the previous closing of Rs 86, on BSE today.
