Transition care provider SuVitas to expand.
SuVitas, the Hyderabad-based transition care provider in the healthcare sector, plans to set up two centres in Mumbai and Chennai by the end of 2019. It will entail an investment of $2 million, said Harish Kalathil, Director-Operations.
The start-up, launched in 2015, will raise funds from the existing investors. Both centres will have 55-60 beds each and investment of up to $1 million.
They will have a complete rehabilitation facility with expert, multi-disciplinary medical support at reasonably affordable costs compared with corporate and other large hospitals offering critical care, he said.
SuVitas, promoted by professional doctors, raised $20 million in 2015. It launched the ‘Independent, In Patient’ facility with 48 beds in Hyderabad. By 2017, it turned operationally profitable, Harish told BusinessLine .
As part of expansion, the Bengaluru centre in Domlur was launched this June with 30 beds. It will be scaled up to 45 by end September and 60 in the near future.
The response has been good for the care and facilities being offered. In the long run, the company plans to raise VC funding to reach out to tier-2 cities and State capitals, he added.
SuVitas is among the pioneers in providing post hospitalisation, rehabilitation, counselling and medical care with focus on spinal cord injuries, stroke effected, joint replacement, post cardiac and other medical issues that require prolonged care.
In the beginning, the client profile was old patients with children abroad, NRIs and foreigners as `medical tourists’ and those from nuclear families, but since early this year, after the launch of the website, people patients from Kolkata, Assam, Ahmedabad and other cities are also coming to the centres, he added.
