Trial runs on first train for Metro-3 underground corridor to begin soon
The first prototype train for the Mumbai Metro-3 underground corridor (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) will arrive in August 2022.
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) is expected to commence trails for the same in August 2022. Initial design proving trial runs will be undertaken inside the tunnel.
The first prototype rake, which will arrive from Sri City in Andhra Pradesh, will undergo trial runs of 2,000 km. These trials will be carried out on a three km-long stretch between Marol Naka Metro Station and a temporary facility of parking set up near Marol-Maroshi Road end.
MMRC has targeted opening Phase-I of the Metro 3 Corridor between Aarey and BKC by December 2023.
