Your National Highways are Now Made from Plastic & Jute

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, National Highways announced that going forward it permits and encourages the use of used waste plastic, jute and geo-textiles for construction of National Highways within 50 kms of urban areas with population exceeding 5 lakhs.

A pilot project covering 10 km stretch will be soon undertaken. The research in this direction had started since 2012 and Rs. 83 crores were allocated for R&D and Training & Quality in FY 2016-17.
